Our Food Pantry Is A Lifeline For Many Hungry Families

Rising costs for food, propane and gasoline have increased the burden on the poor to unmanageable levels.  These sorts of unexpected increases would be a difficult pill to swallow for anyone living on a fixed or tight budget.  But to families on or below the poverty line these kinds of increases aren’t just a hardship - they are a spirit crushing blow!

Consider the story of one of our recent clients: John L. John is a father of three small children as well as a factory worker who was laid off when his plant closed.  After paying the rent and utility bills John has hardly any money left to feed his family.  He has turned to the Sacred Heart Southern Missions in a desperate attempt to find the resources they need. John is just one example of the good, hard working people that seek our help at our food pantries only as a last resort.  Many are ashamed to ask for help but have gotten to the point where they see no other way out.  Some have even resorted to skipping meals themselves to make sure their children have enough.

The food pantry and emergency assistance provided by the Sacred Heart Southern Missions is a true lifeline for many suffering families in our area. Your gift of $10, $20 or $25 will make a real difference to a family in need.  It will allow us to fill food boxes and provide other critically needed assistance to enable poor mothers, fathers and children to make it through these difficult times.

God bless you for your wonderful generosity.  You and your family are always in our prayers.
