Horseshoe and Roadhouse casino employees participated in a Spring Cleaning drive benefitting SHSM. As part of Caesar’s Entertainment’s corporate CodeGreen initiative to identify, monitor, measure, assess, manage and reduce material impacts on the environment, management asked employees to clean out and recycle their gently used household and clothing items. SHSM netted four pallet boxes of donations!

Donations, Donations!

St. John the Baptist parish in Green Bay, Wisconsin, contacted Director of Donor Relations, Steve Koepke, in January after hearing about the pre-Christmas tornado in Holly Springs. The congregation wanted to assist tornado victims with household and clothing items.

St. John’s Deacon Nick Williams coordinated several clothing drives and also reached out to a local hospital, hotel and Goodwill retailer for donations of furniture and personal care items.

After collecting a mountain of items to benefit our clients, the parish youth group loaded them onto a semi-trailer for the 750-mile trip. Thanks to the generosity of Schneider, a national logistics and transport carrier, the items were delivered to SHSM at no charge.

The 53’ trailer arrived last Wednesday in Walls, and was quickly staged for sorting and distribution.

After several conversations, the parish plans to make the SHSM donation drive an annual event and will tailor the items based on a list of items which our communities request.
