New Home Health Aide Training Program at Holly Springs Center Prepares Eight Participants for New Employment

homeaid.jpgThanks to the ongoing support of many Sacred Heart Southern Missions donors, a talented staff finds ways to open doors to new opportunities.

With the job market in Holly Springs, Mississippi at an all-time low, Sacred Heart staff reviewed ways to make the job readiness program in Holly Springs more practical. Eleanor Clayborn, Economic Alternatives coordinator for Sacred Heart Southern Missions launched a new collaborative with Northwest Community College to prepare currently unemployed clients for available positions in Home Health.

Eleanor developed a Home Health Aide Training Course curriculum, recruited participants, and leads most of the classes.

Guest speakers from community agencies and other Sacred Heart Southern Missions programs are engaged for professional development in personal care services especially related to the aging process and needs of the elderly and infirm. All aspects of non-medical care are covered in the three month program.

Individuals applying to the program must first obtain a Career Readiness Certificate through the WIN Job Center. Eight of the ten students who started the three month program graduated in early May. These graduates qualified for entry level job placements in three different home health agencies.  Staffers and graduates alike salute faithful donors who continue to make a difference in this small Mississippi community!
