Share Your Sacred Heart Auto League Story

Sometimes we receive messages from our friends who share memories of the Sacred Heart Auto League.  Many recall their parents taking part in the Sacred Heart Auto League.  We also hear much about what our friends used to refer to as "Dashboard Jesus".

Stories from other members...

My family and I have been Auto League members for about 10 years. One of things I like best is how we pray as a family before we leave on a big trip and upon our safe return. It has been a great opportunity to enrich the spiritual lives of our children (now grown drivers themselves!) and teach them about the Sacred Heart. I think its so important that I have given out Sacred Heart Auto League visor clips to all our family and friends!

This last fall my daughter went off to college and before she left we enrolled her in the Sacred Heart Auto League. Her school is 150 miles away and the last half of the trip is on a lightly traveled state highway. When she was home over Christmas break I took her car in for an oil change. Unfortunately the garage forgot to put the oil cap back on her engine. When she arrived at school smoke was coming out from under her hood. I realized how easy it would have been for her engine to break down on the way and leave her stranded on that lonely road. Some would say my daughter was "lucky". Do I believe the prayers of Sacred Heart Auto League members assisted her in having a safe journey - Yes, I do!

just wanted to tell you that I am a most positive believer in the power of prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  I have both the stick on card and the visor clip for all to see in my Blazer.  I am most happy that they are my constant companions during the summer months when I am storm chasing.  We also have a stick on card in our car which accompanies us on our trips to Missouri and back twice during each year.

I know that we have personally been blessed and had our prayers answered on two separate occasions over the past 2 years.  Last year my wife fell asleep at the wheel and our car left the road on Interstate 29 North of Omaha.  I had my eyes closed and was relaxing and saying the prayer to St. Jude and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus when I heard her call my name.  I leaned over and took the wheel of the car as it was heading into a ditch between the median of the highway.  It was indeed a miracle that we did not roll our car several times at that time.  I felt the rear tires leave the road!  I honestly feel that it was not our time to be accountable and I am certain that the Lord was with us.  Oh yes, I have thanked the Lord many times over for looking out for us on that occasion.

Just wanted to let you know that we would not be without our membership.

Sincerely,

Dale

Dear Fr. Jack,

I have been a member of the Sacred Heart League and especially the Sacred Heart Auto League for over 20 years.  Being a member of this league has been an inspiring and protective way for me to travel the highway to my job every day.  I feel God's protective hand and spirit over me as I make my daily travels.

In today's world we need His protection and guidance especially on the highways and roads.  We have people that drive without a thought or care for their fellow drivers or neighbors and are very careless and reckless with their driving.  It is this group - even though it is a small one since the majority of drivers are very careful and considerate when you consider the thousands of cars and drivers that complete their trips on America's roads each day - that have to be addressed.  If the Sacred Heart Auto League can get to change their ways and take Jesus as their partner in driving, the roads and highways will be much safer.  In the fifty years plus since it began the League has saved thousands of lives and turned drivers into considerate, prayerful partners in Christ.  Keep up the good work!

As a member of the Sacred Heart League, I also enjoy and make full use of all your devotional materials.  They are a source of much inspiration and help to me and now, by being able to have e-mail access, this also is an inspiration for me.  Thank you and God Bless You.

Your partner in Christ,

Joseph

When I walked into my home from work this evening the phone was ringing.  I picked it up too late the first time, but the caller, my son Alan, rung again immediately.  When I picked up the line he thanked me for the guardian angel I purchased for the visor of his first car which was presented to him his sophomore year in college -- he is now a graduate.

Alan, age 23, explained that en route to work in Virginia encountered an SUV coming toward him airborne!  It stopped just feet away from his car as he watched in shock.

I am sure my little car trinkets, that guardian angel and also a Sacred Heart of Jesus medallion from the Sacred Heart Auto League, were just silly, maybe embarrassing, little annoyances to him when he was a carefree college kid with a mother who prayed him all the way through college.  But now he's a full-time working man and faces real life, including traffic, on a daily basis.  I took this occasion to remind him that every year I enroll our little family, just the two of us, in the Sacred Heart Auto League every year, and to remind him to thank Our Lord for his intervention.

I am hoping he will continue the tradition when he is a fully independent adult (whatever that means, since I'll always be the praying Mom).  I believe it is Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Our Dear Lady, the Virgin Mary, who through the persistent prayers of his Mom and our enrollment in the Sacred Heart Auto League saved my son's life.

Thank you and God's blessings to all members and administrators,

Cindy,
Virginia
